PHILIP TREVENNEN PHOTOGRAPHER:
When Philip was asked by his friends what was he going to do when he
returned from a round the world trip he joked that he was going to climb to
the top of Ayers Rock (Ularu), listen to U2’s Joshua tree and decide then…..
and that is what happened!
That was back in 1990. Since then Philip has been a professional
photographer, whose work has taken him from China to the USA.
Philip who started specialising in travel photography on a trip to China,
where he met his wife Annie and where his son Nicholas was born. He spent
four years working there. Pictures of China were placed in a London image
library and his work appeared in national papers. Whilst in China he also
had 2 exhibitions - one in Guangzhou where he was living and the second in
Hong Kong.
Philip returned to Penzance just before 2000 and has been busy with his
photography since. He has brought out a stunning range of cards and prints
of Cornish sea and landscapes which are available at selected galleries
across the county. These have received critical acclaim not just locally but
also overseas.
‘I went to New York 3 years ago and whilst there took a few of my images to
some galleries. I went to a gallery at Pier 17 in Lower Manhattan and they
loved what they saw – so much so they asked me if I could take some New York
photos’ These now sell well and he has been asked to go back and take some
photos of Long Island!
In 2006, Philip was invited to photograph The Eden Project for a series of
post cards and photo cards. He also produced a stunning 2007 calendar as a
fundraiser for Truro cathedral, which was great success.
