Edward T. Ward

February 4th to March 4th 2007

Landscapes & Flowers, Pastels & Oils.

Edward T. Ward was born in Manchester in 1948. On leaving Great Stone Road secondary modern school he embarked on a apprenticeship in signwritting and illustration with More O’Farrell Advertising going on to also complete a course in graphic design and typography.

After completing his apprenticeship Edward was promoted to a designer at More O’Farrell Advertising and later ran the studio for several years. On being made redundant he and a friend started an outdoor advertising business which encompassed photography, graphic design, screen printing and lithography printing.

In the late 1970s Edward moved to Cornwall and eventually stated his own business signwritting and designing. During this time he met photographer Bob Berry who became a good friend over the years and whose work inspired Edward to take up art again for pleasure.

Edward draws his inspiration from the beautiful Cornish scenery which he paints in a style all his own mainly using pastels but sometimes oils. He shows how the same scene can change at different times of the day according to the light and ever-chanfging colour and texture of the sky, bringing a fresh contemporary look to a familiar landscape.
