JAN PHETHEAN, SALT-WATER-LIGHT 25April to 23rd May 2010
Salt- Water-Light is a collection of work completed through the winter of 2009/2010. The reflections of the sea seen from my studio inspired my studies of the surface of salt water. I am endlessly fascinated by the transient patterns created by spray and light. I seek to express the sublime nature of the sea and to capture its elusive, restless energy in my painting through layers of colour and texture.

This collection of small still lives concentrates on flowers, fruit and cakes. Whether a vase of tulips, a bowl of cherries or a fondant-topped cupcake, each painting is a delicious combination of colours and textures that is highly appealing in any domestic setting.
