One of the truly unmissable features of the summer in Cornwall is the annual Falmouth Classics regatta; a weekend of nautical fun that is without peer in the UK.
The Cornish coast is truly one of the most breathtaking in the UK (and we might dare say, the whole world); and whilst you’ll see no shortage of watercraft at any given time from the beach, the Falmouth Classics Regatta brings variety like nothing else at sea.
Now a high point of the summer boating calendar, the Falmouth Classics regatta invites all classic sailing boats to join in the event, even if they don’t want to race – filling the moors and seafronts of Cornwall with an array of colourful and antiquated watercraft.
A particular highlight is the Classic Parade on Saturday 14th of June. All the boats in attendance take to the water for a showcase – or indeed, showboat – that can be viewed from Pendennis Point, Pendennis Castle, and Castle Drive.
Though only the start can be seen from Events Square, anywhere with a view of the water instantly becomes a memory that will last a lifetime as the beauty of the coast meets the splendour of classic sailboats.
For anyone without their sea-legs, a host of land-side activities can be found, from food stalls to sea shanty festivals.
One of the main attractions is the free berthing a mooring afforded to sailors at the marina. But for anyone without a boat, what better place to stay than the Hotel Penzance?
Enjoy the sea view from our terrace, or marvel at St Michael’s Mount from our Mediterranean garden without ever having to trade your suite for a cabin.
We have rooms available all weekend at the time of writing, but that won’t last for long. Be sure to use our online booking form for our best rates, or give us a call to see if there are any special offers on.
