With Christmas just around the corner, November is the month when many towns in West Penwith switch on their Christmas lights.
The Christmas light switch on for Penzance will be held on Saturday the 26th of November at 5pm. Unlike previous years some of the town’s landmark buildings will be lit up and a town lights trail will be highlighting Christmas window displays created by artists and traders.
Shoppers can follow the town lights trail through some of Penzance’s most renowned independent stores and on completion will be entered into a £200 prize draw. The festive trail will lead shoppers through an exciting mix of pubs, cafes and restaurants which includes some of Cornwall’s finest establishments.
In Market Jew Street you can enjoy all day music and entertainment, Pirate FM’s Holly Day will be on Market Jew Street near the Christmas Tree ready for the big switch on. Holly hosts the very successful daily home time show with Johnny Cowling for Pirate FM.
Come and have a look at the market stalls displaying local produce and crafts and there is also a horse-drawn bus for rides around the town. Bring the children for free visits to Father Christmas and also the chance to partake in a fabulous treasure hunt.
If you bring the car there’s free parking too. Come and have a wonderful time at the switching on of the Penzance Christmas Lights.
When you have finished enjoying the delights of the Christmas Light Switch On, why not pop along to The Bay Restaurant at the Hotel Penzance which is a five minute walk from the town centre.
The Bay restaurant offers a brasserie dinner from 17.00 until 21.15. Come and sit in the light airy restaurant and enjoy the sweeping views across Mounts Bay. The restaurant has held the two AA rosettes award for culinary excellence over the last 12 years.
