 Visit Cornwall in the Winter

Visit Cornwall in the Winter

After the Christmas festivities are over, it might feel like there’s not a lot happening in Cornwall. However, just ask the locals and they will tell you, January in Penzance and the rest of the county is a revelation.

Of course, you might have to bring your waterproofs in case those crisp blue skies turn into heavy showers as they do in Cornwall but it is well worth the trip.

For those of you who enjoy active pursuits, winter is when Cornwall’s landscapes are at their best especially at first light. The crisp fresh air will await walkers who are taking one of the world-famous countryside trails or paths in January and February.

And whilst it could turn blustery, the famous Cornish coast still has it’s charm even in winter. If you’re the type of person that likes to be inspired then there is nothing more stirring than watching giant Atlantic waves crash against harbour walls in the towns and coastal cliffs along the beach.

For those of you who are not keen walkers then there are plenty more leisurely pursuits in Cornish towns. Almost every local pub you walk into will have a fine selection of ales and food on offer, and if the idea of a hot chocolate in front of a wood burning fire doesn’t warm you up we are not sure what will!

It might not be beach weather but don’t let that stop you from visiting the vast number of beaches along the Cornish coastline. A walk along the beach in January is refreshing and taking in the sea air is almost therapeutic during the winter months.

Cornwall boasts an array of award-winning local artists galleries as well as Tudor castles, Victorian stately homes, unforgettable museums and ancient stone structures for those who like their culture to have a certain timeless quality.

Finally, the charm of Cornwall is portrayed in the narrow streets in coastal villages and is a truly evocative experience, making you feel like you could be two hundred years in the past, or indeed, the future. A visit to Cornwall in the Winter is a truly memorable experience.
